Walks, hikes, running or strolls around

The Mugello Valley offers a vast choice of many excellent routes for walking, hiking, jogging or simply walking around.

There are plenty of exciting walks just outside of our Villa La Commenda Concordia. Take a walk along nearby fields, pass a picturesque olive plantation on the right, see a small private aircraft runway ( local residents often practice tricks on their small aeroplanes and it is worth seeing it as well).

There is a small racetrack La Commenda further down the road where you can see lovely horses and even take some lessons.

One certain thing is - there is always beautiful scenery along the way in any direction you choose to go. The landscape is just unbelievable.

The landscape of the Mugello is characterized by a wide belt of mountains and hills that slope down to the plain adjacent to the river Sieve. The fauna of this area includes deer, roe deer, wild boar and mouflon as well as wolves and eagles. The Mugello includes 4 forest reserves that are part of the Agricultural Heritage of Tuscany: the Giogo-Casaglia, the Calvana, the Alto Senio and the Alpe. Since the Nineties, the Lake of Bilancino has become a characteristic feature of the Mugello landscape.

There is no better way to enjoy the beauty of the Mugello area and sense the unity between the human and the nature. The harmony of nature here leave you no chance but to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the land and leave all the stresses of the world behind.

There are many routes you can choose from: over thirty routes follow the SO.F.T routes (Sorgenti di Firenze Trekking), they are partly along the famous G.E.A. road (Grande Escursione Appenninica), many of them run through R.E.T. trails(Rete Escursionistica Toscana). We can suggest routes that go through the mount Giovi Cultural Park,The Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona, Campigna National Park as well as the historic Via degli Dei. The Via degli Dei (Path of Gods) is a hiking path that connects the cities of Bologna and Florence across the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
